Leadership

Everyday I walk down the hall I notice a paticular sign. This sign reads " All we need around here is someone who wants to show a little leadership." The reason I am writing about this sign is because it is a big role that most people do not want to fill. Now you are probally thinking what on Earth does this sign have to do with softball, well let me tell you. In about any sport you have to have leaders on the floor, court, field, ect. Now if you don't have a leader in sports usally people will get down on themselves because they do not have someone to cheer them up, or they do not know what they are doing. The leaders responsiblity is way more than giving encouragement or explaining what to do, it making a differnce in your actions that you are doing. The reason why I am telling you this is because, on the softball field you have to have a leader wheither it is the catcher,pitcher, or shortstop. That's a big role to fill, but it one that you need to have for the sake of the team. Thomas Jeferson once said that " Whenever you do a thing, act as if the world is watching."

My Position

 When it comes to anything you really do you have a certain postion that you are appointed. For me ,on the softball field, I have many postions I play, but there is one postion that really screams Savanna. I play short stop and it is one of my favorite places to play and  be on the field. Short stop is the leader of the softball field. They appoint everyone where they are supposed to throw or what they are suppoused to do. The other reason I love playing shortstop is because you are like the ball magnet. Every thing is hit to you and you get the most action, out of any place on the field. Shortstop is one of my favorite places to play for the act that I get to be a leader and I get to make a lot of plays.

Fear never crosses the mind of a girl with drive.

She stands there eying the batter with determination to strike her out.

The wind let lose and a swing and a miss.

The next pitch flying in at 75 miles an hour, Whoosh and a strike and a miss for strike two.

The final pitch, the final wind up to strike her out.

Swap right and in the catchers glove.

As the batter walks away with disappointment, a slight smirk over comes the proud pitcher.

The game or the crazy people playing in the snow and rain
The ones spending hours of their time in the off season and the season
Giving everything they have to win that game or make the varsity team
Showing up with busted up knees and blistered hands
Making friendships that will last a life time

Having Mom and Dad yell catch that ball or follow it all the way
The loud cheers coming from all directions of the field
Giving a 110% everyday whether you feel like it or not

Role Models

A big part of why I started playing softball was because of  a very particular person; this person is Jordan Barnett. Jordan is an amazing softball player and taught me a lot while being my coach. When I first saw Jordan playing softball, I told myself that someday I want to play just like her. Not only is she an incredible softball player,but she is also a good influence for young people. She has a great work ethic that has gotten her to where she is today. Not only that, she is also helping us try to get a softball program going in our high school so the people that share the same love as her can enjoy softball too.  Jordan has gone to college, but I still look up to her.  She has given me my drive to play softball in high school. She will always be my role model, not only softball, but everything I do in life.

This is a good website as far talking about the history of softball. This website gives good information because it tells you how and where softball first started. This is one the best websites I found that truly shows the  meaning of softball and what it is about.
