Accidents Happen
Accidents Happen
Every once in a while when playing sports you have to have some type of injury, or that's what it seems like to me, though. Well that's what happen to me while playing the sport I love. Now this can happen in any sport, but it had to be the sport I love. The morning was a great morning because I got to play softball the whole day. It was June 31, 2012, and it was a Saturday. I was super nervous because this was my first time playing high school softball. I arrived at the place of the tournament. As we went through the day we had played three games and won one and lost one. It was our last game of the day and we were playing the number one team. I was going in to hit for our right fielder. I was up to bat and I hadn't hit the whole day except or a few dinkers. The pitcher I was hitting off of was very familiar to me. I saw the pitch I liked and I went for it. Smack, out it went to the right fielder. I got on first and didn't get the go to go to second base. So I rounded back to first base. As, I was sitting there talking to my coach something came underneath my helmet and hit me. I feel instantly to the ground. I knew that something had hit me but I just didn't know what. As I started to get up something didn't feel right. Immediately I knew that something was wrong. Turns out that I had broken my jaw in to places, one in the front and the back.
That day I wasn't expecting to have to go to the hospital for a broken jaw, I was expecting to get to play some softball. The funny thing though was that I wasn't so much worried about if my jaw was broken I was much more worried if our team had won the game. Though this experience has left me with two titanium plates and seven screws, it has become a big part why I still play softball, even after something this bad could happen.

Home Run Hitter
Home Run Hitter
The sound of the bat cracking like thunder
The wows and screams of cheer from the crowd
The little kids screaming, "Did you see that it went over the fence!"
The slit jog with the smile creeping upon your face
Showing that even though you are little you are mighty
Coaches slapping you on the back saying, "Good Job!"
Getting to home plate and having every single person on your team slap your helmet.
Receiving that softball cake for your awesome accomplishment
The feeling of getting to say, "I am a Home Run Hitter."

Leadership
Everyday I walk down the hall I notice a paticular sign. This sign reads " All we need around here is someone who wants to show a little leadership." The reason I am writing about this sign is because it is a big role that most people do not want to fill. Now you are probally thinking what on Earth does this sign have to do with softball, well let me tell you. In about any sport you have to have leaders on the floor, court, field, ect. Now if you don't have a leader in sports usally people will get down on themselves because they do not have someone to cheer them up, or they do not know what they are doing. The leaders responsiblity is way more than giving encouragement or explaining what to do, it making a differnce in your actions that you are doing. The reason why I am telling you this is because, on the softball field you have to have a leader wheither it is the catcher, pitcher, or shortstop. That's a big role to fill, but it one that you need to have for the sake of the team. Thomas Jeferson once said that " Whenever you do a thing, act as if the world is watching."

My Position
When it comes to anything you really do you have a certain postion that you are appointed. For me ,on the softball field, I have many postions I play, but there is one postion that really screams Savanna. I play short stop and it is one of my favorite places to play and be on the field. Short stop is the leader of the softball field. They appoint everyone where they are supposed to throw or what they are suppoused to do. The other reason I love playing shortstop is because you are like the ball magnet. Every thing is hit to you and you get the most action, out of any place on the field. Shortstop is one of my favorite places to play for the act that I get to be a leader and I get to make a lot of plays.
