Why I Love Softball

Why do I love softball so much? I love this sport so much because it shows me in a little tiny box. It shows that I have the skills to walk on to a team and make JV out of 30 girls. It shows my corky personality through what my equipment looks like and the touches I put on my uniforms. I love this sport so much because I get to be with people that share the same passion as me. It makes me stronger through the experiences that it leaves me with. It gives me friendships that will last me lifetimes. Softball has me written all over it from my skills to my friendships that will be with me forever. Softball is me!
I LOVE SOFTBALL!!

I am a Role Model

What every older person dreams about is being a role model for someone. That is one of my biggest goals to be a role model for my sisters and the younger kids that play softball. Being a role model takes a lot. You always have to be on your best behavior and show the kids how to run the ropes. Well, in softball I have always been the youngest in my age group, so I have to stay down an extra year. At first I thought wow this stinks, but I soon realized that having to stay down was going to give me some pretty great experiences.  In my last year of majors, I thought to myself this is my year to strive to be a better role model. I made that come true by having a 1st grader say " Wow you are really good, I hope I can be good like you some day." That one saying meant so much to me. I knew that by working hard in softball, that some day those girls would work  just as hard and be were I am today.

My Poem

Softball
Smack, Crack, and a whosh of the bat
The smell of fresh popcorn and fresh dirt in the air
Sweat dripping down your face as the hot sun beats down on you

Seeing the neon yellow ball snap into your glove
The excotic colors of the differnt uniforms
The coaches screaming "Go, Go!"

Softball the game that means everything to me.
It is the one thing that I feel that I can do without hesitation.
Softball is the game that I love!

State Title

The thrill of adrenaline rushing through my body was the first feeling that hit me. That day was not just any old day. It was the day that  my bestfriend and I got to share something we had been working for, for what seemed like an century. It was the chance to get to go on and bring back the regional title. Though we didn't get very far at regionals we got to share the chance of getting to win a Softball State Title. I can say that I am a State Title winner.

Accidents Happen

Accidents Happen
Every once in a while when playing sports you have to have some type of injury, or that's what it seems like to me, though. Well that's what happen to me while playing the sport I love. Now this can happen in any sport, but it had to be the sport I love.
The morning was a great morning because I got to play softball the whole day. It was June 31, 2012, and it was a Saturday. I was super nervous because this was my first time playing high school softball. I arrived at the place of the tournament.  As we went through the day we had played three games and won one and lost one. It was our last game of the day and we were playing the number one team. I was going in to hit for our right fielder. I was up to bat and I hadn't hit the whole day except or a few dinkers. The pitcher I was hitting off of was very familiar to  me. I saw the pitch I liked and I went for it. Smack, out it went to the right fielder. I got on first and didn't get the go to go to second base. So I rounded back  to first base. As, I was sitting there talking to my coach something came underneath my helmet and hit me. I feel instantly to the ground. I knew that something had hit me but I just didn't know what. As I started to get up something didn't feel right. Immediately I knew that something was wrong. Turns out that I had broken my jaw in to places, one in the front and the back.
That day I wasn't expecting to have to go to the hospital for a broken jaw, I was expecting to get to play some softball. The funny thing though was that I wasn't so much worried about if my jaw was broken I was much more worried if our team had won the game. Though this experience has left me with two titanium plates and seven screws, it has  become a big part why I still play softball, even after something this bad could happen.

Softball at the Olympics

Now I know that every person has a different opinion on this topic that I am about to say, but this is how I feel. I feel that we should bring back softball to the Olympics. I feel this not only because I am a softball player, but because it is very enjoying to watch. They need to bring back softball to the Olympics. By taking this away you are taking away the dreams of the young girls who want to be an Olympic softball player. This is how I feel and hopefully you feel the same way, but if not think about the ideas that I have proposed, and create your opinion on this topic. My opion on this topic is that we need to bring back softball to the Olympics. It is a game that I want to see back in the future.

Home Run Hitter

Home Run Hitter
The sound of the bat cracking like thunder
The wows and screams of cheer from the crowd
The little kids screaming, "Did you see that it went over the fence!"

The slit jog with the smile creeping upon your face
Showing that even though you are little you are mighty
Coaches slapping you on the back saying, "Good Job!"

Getting to home plate and having every single person on your team slap your helmet.
Receiving that softball cake for your awesome accomplishment
The feeling of getting to say, "I am a Home Run Hitter."
